IRCICA Director General Dr. Halit Eren visited the Republic of Macedonia on 22-23 November 2009. H.E. Gjorge Ivanov, President of the Republic of Macedonia, received the Director General of IRCICA Dr. Halit Eren at the Presidential Office on 23 November 2009.

IRCICA was most honoured by the visit of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalıfa al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, at its headquarters on 9 November 2009. His Highness the Emir was in Istanbul to participate in the Economic Summit of the COMCEC – OIC’s Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation.

Introduction Pursuant to General Assembly resolutions 50/17 of 28 November 1995 and 63/114 of 26 February 2009, the General Meeting on Cooperation between the Secretariats of the United Nations (UN) and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and their specialized organizations and agencies took place on the premises of Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) in Istanbul between June-1 July 2010. The agenda, programme of work and the list of participants are attached as Annexes I, II, and III. Before the opening of the meeting, H.E. Mr. B. Lynn Pascoe, Under-Secretary General for Political Affairs of the United Nations visited Dr. Halit Eren, Director General, in his office in the headquarters of IRCICA. Dr. Eren briefed him on the activities of IRCICA.

14.05.2010In cooperation with the Metropolitan Municipality of Istanbul, a conference on “Astronomers in Islam and their contribution to world history of science” was organised on 7-8 May 2010 at IRCICA. The Secretary General of the OIC Prof. Ekmeleddin İhsnaoğlu and the Metropolitan Mayor of Istanbul Arch. Dr. Kadir Topbaş were present at the opening ceremony at Çit Qasr, Yıldız Palace.

Exhibition of Historical Photographs of Mecca and Medina
05.04.2010More than 100 photographs of the cities of Mecca and Medina were displayed at “The Two Holy Mosques Photograph Exhibition” organised by IRCICA and the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The exhibition was opened in Jeddah on 10 February 2010, in the old Customs building which is used today as a museum. The exhibition was opened for a period of two months and to travel to other cities in the Kingdom.

01.11.2010Honourable rectors, governors, distinguished participants and colleagues, It is a great pleasure to welcome you at IRCICA to launch the 2010 annual meeting of the Al-Quds/Jerusalem ten-year program. We are honoured by the presence at this opening, of four rectors of universities in Turkey, Professor İsmail Yüksek, Rector of Yıldız Technical University, Professor Azmi Özcan, Rector of Bilecik University, Professor Niyazi Eruslu, Rector of Yalova University, Professor Mustafa Aykaç, Rector of Kırklareli University. Also, The presence of governors of various districts of İstanbul is an expression of the importance attached to these activities: the governor of Bakırköy Mr. Dursun Ali Şahin, the governor of Küçükçekmece Mr. Orhan Öztürk, the governor of Güngören Mr. Seyfettin Azizoğlu.
