IRCICA, a subsidiary organ of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC,, undertakes activities of research and publication, organizes scholarly congresses, holds exhibitions, festivals and competitions, maintains documentary archives and carries out programs to promote academic studies, international cooperation and cultural exchanges across the world in areas related to history, arts and sciences and cultural heritage of Islamic civilization and Muslim peoples (

IRCICA seeks an Assistant Director General to work under the supervision of the Director General and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary staff.

The work place is IRCICA's headquarters in Istanbul.

Responsibilities required for this post include the following:

  • assist the Director General in the overall and day-to-day management of the Centre and coordination of its operations in realization of its objectives and fulfilment of its tasks,
  • recommend measures for constant improvement of work efficiency in accordance with institutional requirements and in the light of best practices from around the world,
  • develop project proposals to enhance and diversify the activities of the Centre and foster international cooperation,
  • assume and implement projects of the Centre and collaborative programs with Member States' institutions and international organizations,
  • undertake and participate in drafting of publications, maintenance of academic networks, organization of cultural events and other activities of the Centre.

Required qualifications for the position are:

-       to be a Muslim national of an OIC Member State,

-       impeccable personal and professional integrity,

-       extensive experience at senior scholarly and managerial levels in international and/or academic institutions,

-       significant experience in leading qualified and multicultural staff and coordinating tasks involving institutional parties in the areas of activity of the Centre,

-       demonstrated ability and experience in handling international relations, particularly cultural, educational, artistic and/or humanitarian activities,

-       understanding of the OIC's and IRCICA's objectives and commitment to serving them,

-       BA degree with a competitive Cum GPA at graduation from an internationally recognized university, preferably followed by MA or PhD in social sciences,

-       excellent command of at least two of the OIC's official languages (English, French, Arabic).

Recruitment process, in case of short-listing and invitation by IRCICA to participate further in the selection procedure, will include provision of a self-attestation stating that the applicant has not committed, been convicted or prosecuted for any criminal offence. This will eventually be followed by an invitation to an interview at IRCICA headquarters.
