IRCICA organized an exhibition of “Islamic Calligraphy” on the occasion of the Third Edition of the OIC Day Celebration at UNESCO, Paris on 28 September 2015. The exhibition, to continue until 2 October, consists of works by outstanding living calligraphers and reproductions of some works having won awards in calligraphy competitions organized by IRCICA.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by the OIC Member States’ ambassadors in Paris and delegations at UNESCO. IRCICA Director General Dr. Halit Eren addressed the opening, briefing the audience on IRCICA’s various activities as a research center and the projects and programs it conducts with the aim of promoting the art of calligraphy.
The OIC Day celebration program started with a round-table on “Rapprochement of cultures: the contributions of the Islamic world” convened by the OIC Group at UNESCO. The round-table aimed to promote, within the framework of the UN International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013-2022), a constructive debate on this subject which is paramount and pertinent for coexistence of peoples in an environment of international stability and security.
