Cultural Legacy Week in Uzbekistan: “The Phenomenon of Oriental Renaissances: States, Religions, Personalities and Civilizations”, IRCICA’s participation

This year’s Cultural Legacy Week in Uzbekistan, organized by the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan (WOSCU), underlined the theme “The Phenomenon of Oriental Renaissances: States, Religions and Civilizations”. The Week’s program was launched with an official ceremony on 18 October 2024. Prof. Cengiz Tomar, Head of Research and Publications at IRCICA was one of the speakers at the opening ceremony, which was also addressed by scholars and specialists on history and cultural heritage attending from France, Germany, Japan, and Türkiye. A video film on the state reforms and development programs carried out in Uzbekistan in the fields of science, culture and education was shown. The audience was also presented with a documentary film about the work of the 8th International Congress of the WOSCU (23-26 Aug. 2024) and the Center of Islamic Civilization.

The main goals of the Cultural Legacy Week are to popularize the historical and cultural legacy of the country, including among the younger generation of the Uzbeks, present the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, and invite project proposals to enhance the exhibitions of its museum halls and library. Various exhibitions were opened during the Week at different venues, including the exhibitions on “Masterpieces of Archeology and Ethnography”, “The Quran: The Light of Peace, Goodness and Spiritual Awakening”, “Treasures of the Ages: Manuscript Heritage of Uzbekistan”, “Masterpieces of Historical Thought”.
