IRCICA Director General Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç addressed as official speaker, the program marking the World Arabic Language Day which was organized by the OIC General Secretariat jointly with King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language, on 14 January 2024 at the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The inaugural session of the program, opened by the Secretary General of OIC and the Secretary General of King Salman Academy, was followed by a special session where experts from different countries spoke of the influences of Arabic poetry on the poetry of their countries. Then, the session themed “The Arabic Language in the Arts in Islamic Countries” took place, where Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç reviewed the salient features of the history of the introduction of the Arabic language into the cultures of Muslim countries through the spread of the Holy Qur’an, the establishment of Qur’anic sciences and education, and the continuous expansion of the art of Islamic calligraphy throughout the world which introduced all communities, including the non-Arabic speaking, with this language and its script, also alluding to IRCICA’s activities relating to the art of Islamic calligraphy.
