IRCICA Director General Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç underlined the importance of culture for building peace at UN Alliance of Civilizations Ministerial Meeting

IRCICA Director General, Ambassador Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç attended the Ministerial Meeting of the UN Alliance of Civilizations convened on 27 September 2024 at UN headquarters in New York. In his address at the meeting, Prof. Kılıç underlined the vital importance of UNAOC goals and activities for peace and dialogue. Alluding to the similarity between the UNOAC’s work and IRCICA’s activities that aim to build cultural bridges between peoples around the world, Prof. Kılıç expressed his support of the 2024-2026 Work Plan of the UNAOC presented to the meeting by Mr. Miguel Angel Moratinos, UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative of the UNAOC.

The Group of Friends of the UNAOC has 160 members, 29 of them international organizations, including IRCICA. It meets regularly to contribute and cooperate towards the implementation of the Alliance’s goals. Its ministerial meeting was held during the period of the 79th Session of UN General Assembly and High-Level Week (10-27 Sept.); world leaders participating in the “Summit of the Future” (22-23 Sept.) adopted the “Pact for the Future”.
