IRCICA Director General H.E. Ambassador Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol Kılıç gave a keynote address at the 6th International Seminar on “Halalan Thayyiban Products and Services” opened on 5 June 2023 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. An exhibition of Islamic calligraphy, consisting of award-winning works from IRCICA’s calligraphy competitions, was opened on the occasion. The seminar was organized by Islam Sultan Sharif Ali University and the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Brunei Darussalam in conjunction with Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition coordinated by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism. IRCICA Director General Prof. Dr. Kılıç, in this speech, spoke of the philosophy, concepts and themes of Islamic arts that constitute common grounds of understanding among culturally diverse peoples and explained IRCICA’s mission aimed at highlighting and strengthening these grounds by way of research and public cultural events, underlining, in this regard, the significance of the art of Islamic calligraphy, which is appreciated and practiced by artists around the world as reflected by the samples of works displayed by IRCICA on this occasion. The same day, Prof. Kılıç gave an interview to Brunei Radio TV about IRCICA’s activities.
The Minister of Religious Affairs of Brunei Darussalam, Pehin Haji Awang Badaruddin, who was the Guest of Honour of the seminar, visited IRCICA’s exhibition of calligraphy on the first day of the seminar and was briefed by Director General Ambassador Kılıç on IRCICA’s calligraphy competition and the works displayed.
