Abu Rayhan Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies, Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences, organized an international conference in commemoration of its 80th foundation anniversary, on 14 November 2023. The conference, which focused on the Institute’s cooperation with other institutions working in similar fields, was opened with the address of Academician Bekzod Yuldashev, President of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences. Prof. Surayyo Karimova, Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs, Institute of Oriental Studies, gave highlights from the history of the Institute; Dr. Mahmoud Hassani, Leading Researcher of the Institute of Oriental Studies, delivered a welcoming speech. Then, the pre-recorded address of IRCICA Director General Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç was presented, in which the Director General underlined the importance of the work of Biruni Institute for research on the history of science, philosophy, literature, and the arts of the book, as well as for manuscript studies and management of cultural heritage, pointing out that the Institute brings to the world’s knowledge the scholarship that flourished in Central Asia through the works of illustrious figures such as al-Biruni, Ibn Sina, al-Khwarezmi, al-Farabi, al-Razi, Ulugh Bey and many others. Prof. Ashirbek Muminov, IRCICA’s Consultant on Organizational Activities (Central Asia), presented a review of the cooperation between Biruni Institute and IRCICA which covers diverse subjects of interest in the context of Oriental studies and Islamic studies. Subsequently, the representatives of 15 other scientific institutions in Azerbaijan, India, Russia and Uzbekistan made presentations on their cooperation with Biruni Institute.
