The Government and the Republic of Tajikistan and the General Secretariat of the OIC have jointly organized the “OIC Cultural Event in Tajikistan” comprising the conference on the subject of “The Role of Tajik Scholars and Intellectuals in Development of Islamic Culture and Civilization” together with documentary and artistic exhibitions and folkloric performances reflecting the cultural traditions of Tajikistan and Central Asia at large. In the series of “OIC Cultural Events”, this was the first program to be held in Central Asia, after those organized in Uganda, Indonesia, and Malaysia in 2022 and 2023.
During the conference, IRCICA Director General Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç presented a study titled “Islamic Wisdom Traditions as Intercultural Bridges: The Example of Maulana Balkhi-Rumi and IRCICA’s Focuses”. In this study, Prof. Kılıç explained the objectives of IRCICA’s research projects on the written scholarly and scientific heritage of the Islamic world conducted jointly with the governments and institutions of the countries concerned, in this case Tajikistan and by large Central Asia, explaining the contribution of these projects to highlighting the role of the prominent scholars and scientists of the region in the development of Islamic civilization.
Presentations were made by specialists and delegates from different countries, under the following session themes: Historical Contributions of Tajik Scholars to Islamic Culture; Influence of Tajik Intellectuals on Islamic Thought; The Works of Famous Islamic Scholars, Including Tajiks and Persians, in the Formation of Tolerant Opinions; The Development of Islamic Civilization.
