At the invitation of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, the Director General of IRCICA Prof. Halit Eren delivered an address at the opening of the international conference “Islam in the Global World: Muslim Heritage and International Dialogue” in Moscow, on 24 September 2019. The conference was organized by the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, the Russia Muftis Council, and Moscow Islamic Institute. It was part of a series of events marking the 25th anniversary of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the 20th anniversary of the Moscow Islamic Institute. It was titled after Mufti Rizaetdin Fakhretdin (1859-1936), a prominent religious scholar who lived in Tatarstan area and author of books on history and language.
The conference, opened by Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, Chairman, Religious Board of Muslims of Russian Federation and Chairman, Russia Muftis Council, brought together representatives of public authorities, religious and public figures, scholars and educators. It generated exchanges of views on how to channel the positive experiences of Muslim cultural heritage towards fostering mutual understanding, interfaith and intercultural dialogue.
On the sidelines of the conference, IRCICA Director General Prof. Halit Eren presented H.E. Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, Chairman, Religious Board of Muslims of Russian Federation and Chairman, Russia Muftis Council, with a facsimile edition published by IRCICA of a Holy Quran copy attributed to the time of Caliph OthmanRA.
