Prof. Aboubacar A. Senghore, Assistant Director General, IRCICA, addressed the conference of the Forum for Islamic Thought, Culture and Development

Prof. Aboubacar Abdullah Senghore, Assistant Director General of IRCICA, presented a paper at the international conference on “Towards A Harmonious Society for Peace and Sustainable Development” which was organized by the Dakar-based Forum for Islamic Thought, Culture and Development and held at the Islamic Institute of Dakar affiliated to the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Senegal, on 3-4 August 2024. Prof. Senghore’s paper titled “Hate Speech and Defamation, Their Impact on African Societies” was based on his observations and experiences gathered during missions fulfilled in different countries over the past years, and analyzed the conference theme from the following viewpoints:

• concepts and reasons related to hate speech and defamation in societies
• methods inspired by Islamic teachings to counter hate speech and defamation in societies
• examples of hate speech and measures suggested to combat them.
