UNESCO World Conference on Culture and Arts Education was held in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., on 13-15 February 2024. The conference brought together culture and education ministers from around the world in view of adopting a UNESCO Framework for Culture and Arts Education. The Framework is expected to be a tool for UNESCO Member States to shape integrated strategies and policies that anchor the cultural dimension in educational systems, and support them to invest in nurturing skills and competencies, notably through culture and arts, that respond to contemporary needs and opportunities. The conference was also an occasion for relevant UN agencies, intergovernmental organizations and various networks and partners in the field of culture and education to share practices and innovative ideas and strengthen global alliances for culture and arts education. Prof. Kılıç also gave a talk on “The Philosophy of Islamic Calligraphy as a Theme of Art Education” accompanied by a film projection, during the Side Event which was organized by IRCICA, ICESCO, the Ministries of Culture and Education of the UAE, and the Foundation for the Safeguarding of the Cultural Heritage of Rabat, on the second day, 14 Feb. 2024, titled “Building Capacities of Culture Professionals and Researchers”.
