A Sign Language Mushaf – Copy of the Holy Qur’an (Mushaf Al-Qur’an Isyarat) has been developed by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia and published in printed and online versions (https://quran.kemenag.go.id/). Within the framework of the international dissemination program aiming to inform the global audiences concerned about this facility, and through the coordination of Mr. Moehammad Amar Ma’ruf, Career Diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, a webinar meeting was held with IRCICA on 26 March 2025 to cooperate for its dissemination. Participants at the webinar were Mr. Moehammad Amar Ma’ruf; Dr. Haji Deni, Head of Formulating Team of Sign Language Mushaf at the Ministry of Religious Affairs; Ms. Srimarganingsih, Head of Human Relations and Cooperation at the National Library of Indonesia; Ms. Nurindah Harahap, Representative of Indonesian Deaf Moslem Association; and from IRCICA, Dr. Didar Bayır, Head, and other staff from the Library and Archive, and Ms. Fatma Zülfikar, Rapporteur, as moderator. Detailed presentations were made by the participants from Indonesia about the Qur’an copy and its reading methods. The two sides discussed the possible modalities of promoting awareness about this copy worldwide. It is noteworthy that on its 50th session held in Yaoundé, Cameroon (29-30 August 2024), the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC Member States acknowledged the Mushaf in its Resolution no. 4/50-CUL on Social, Family, Youth and Sports Issues, para. 20, as follows: “20. Welcomes the publication in 2023 of the Sign Language Quran by the Government of Indonesia, which is a step forward towards ensuring equality in the teaching of Islam and the Quran for all Muslim people, notably those with special needs.”
