IRCICA and the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan (Tashkent) organized a Professional Training Program for Library Employees in Uzbekistan on 15 December 2022. The program was conducted online, with the purpose of sharing experiences and disseminating advanced librarianship practices. Librarians from the following institutions in Uzbekistan attended the program: National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi, International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, the Library of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, Uzbek State World Languages University, Tashkent Islamic Institute named after Imam Bukhari, Journalism and Mass Communication University of Uzbekistan, Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, Imam Bukhari International Scientific-Research Center, Imam Tirmizi International Scientific-Research Center, Imam Maturidi International Scientific-Research Center.
Six lecturers from IRCICA and the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan covered theoretical, technological and practical aspects of new trends in library management including analysis of modern cataloging practices and working with visual archive documents as in the case of IRCICA’s photography archive. Know-how exchange among institutions was emphasized, towards promoting best practices in the conservation and restoration of manuscripts, lithographic works and archival documents and organizing specific collections, including the manuscript fund of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan.
