An exhibition of Islamic calligraphy prepared by IRCICA was opened on 5 October 2018 at the Museum of Islamic Civilization located at Qul Sharif Mosque at Kazan Kremlin. The collection on display consists of 30 works by artists from different countries having won awards in IRCICA’s international calligraphy competitions (ten competitions held from 1986 to 2016). It will be on display for two months.
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, IRCICA Director General Dr. Halit Eren said that the art of calligraphy finds a large number of admirers in Tatarstan and therefore IRCICA had held similar exhibitions there before. He spoke of the fruitful cooperation developed between IRCICA and the Ministry of Culture of Tatarstan and academic institutions of Russia in academic and artistic fields.
The opening was attended by Mrs. Zilya Valeeva, Director of Kazan Kremlin Museum; Mr. Ilfar Hasanov, İmam of Qul Sharif Mosque; members of the consular corps and residents of Kazan.
