IRCICA’s activities during the Muslim Fest in Canada

by OIC IRCICA

IRCICA took part with activities in the 21st Muslim Fest, a large-scale itinerant international culture and arts festival held annually in Canada. IRCICA’s activities were organized through the collaboration of Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Institute of Toronto. The activities were related to two of the Festival’s main themes: Islamic calligraphy, and the history of Palestine, and were implemented on 19-21 July 2024 in Mississauga city in the Toronto region. Samples of award-winner works from IRCICA’s calligraphy competitions were displayed; three instructive practical workshops and lectures were conducted by the master calligrapher Ferhat Kurlu, teacher in IRCICA’s calligraphy training program. The exhibition of historical photographs of Al-Quds selected from IRCICA’s archive was accompanied by a talk on the photograph albums dating from the period of Sultan Abdulhamid II which was delivered by Ola Alanqar, a Palestinian art history specialist in Toronto.
