A photographic exhibition titled “New Uzbekistan: Time, Space and Cultural Heritage” was opened by the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan (Tashkent) and IRCICA on 17 September 2024, in IRCICA’s conference and exhibition hall. The opening took place in the form of a panel with addresses by authorities and specialists in the field of cultural heritage. The Consul General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul Mr. Sherzod Abdunazarov, and personalities form cultural circles concerned, attended the event and visited the exhibition. Moderated by Mr. Rustam Jabbarov, Scientific Coordinator at the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, the panel heard the addresses of Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç, Director General of IRCICA; Mr. Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Director of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, Dr. Irgash Daminov, Representative of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Dr. İlhan Kocaman, Director, Topkapı Palace Museum (Istanbul); Dr. Muzaffarkhan Caniyev, Director, Imam Tirmidhi Scientific Research Center (Tirmidh), Dr. Aziz Taciyev, Deputy Director, Imam Maturidi Scientific Research Centre (Tashkent), Professor Dr. Abdülhamit Tüfekçioğlu, Chairman of the National Palaces Administration, Istanbul; Prof. Ekrem Aytar, Director, Turkish-Islamic Arts Museum; and, with an extensive presentation on the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, Alishar Egamov, Senior Researcher.
Following the panel, an exchange of publications took place, where the edition of the 8th-century partial copy of the Holy Qur’an preserved in St. Petersburg, published by the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, was gifted to IRCICA, and the edition of the Holy Qur’an copy at Topkapı Palace Museum published by IRCICA was gifted to the Center.
After the opening panel, a working meeting was held by the two institutions for consultations on proposed joint projects.
