H.E. Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, Secretary General of the OIC visited IRCICA, 8 May 2017

H.E. Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) , visited IRCICA, the cultural subsidiary of the OIC, on 8 May 2017.
Secretary General H.E. Dr. Al-Othaimeen was welcomed by IRCICA Director General Dr. Halit Eren first in his office at Seyir Pavilion of Yıldız Palace. The Director General briefed the Secretary General on the history of the Centre and its premises as well as on most recent progress achieved in the context of diverse projects. Then Dr. Eren guided the Secretary General to the library at Silahhane Building. He gave information on some major publications of the Centre and the collections of books in the library. This was followed by a visit to Çit Qasr, where the professional staff of the Centre were introduced to the Secretary General. The Director General presented H.E. the Secretary General with a plate bearing the Quranic verse 49/13 which IRCICA adopted as its motto, as a souvenir of the visit.
Secretary General Al-Othaimeen expressed his pleasure to be at IRCICA which he said, represents the bright side of the OIC, reflects History and presents the achievements of the Muslim world on global scale. Dr. Al-Othaimeen praised the Centre for its good works and said “We are one family”. Recording his impressions in the Visitors Book, the Secretary General wrote: “I had the privilege, on this blessed day, to visit the Centre and its departments, and I appreciated the enthusiasm and energy of the brothers and sisters working at the Centre as well as of the Director General. This Centre, which is part of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation family, constitutes the luminous torch and the protector of the Islamic heritage and the classical Islamic arts. Thanks to all.”
The Secretary General was in Istanbul attending the International Forum on Al-Quds Waqfs which was organized in Istanbul by the Directorate General of Waqfs of Turkey under the patronage of the Presidency of Turkey and within the framework of the annual Waqfs Week. The Secretary General addressed the Forum with a speech titled “Role of Waqfs in Economic Development in and around the city of Al-Quds Al-Shareef”.
