On 5 January 2012, IRCICA was honoured to receive a high-level group representing the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) based in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran. The group was composed of ECO Secretary General H.E. Mr. Mohammed Yahya P. Maroofi, the ECO Member States’ Ambassadors in Tehran, and the ECO Eminent Persons. Director General Dr. Halit Eren guided the guests to the different departments of the Centre, informed them on the research programs and the collections and activities of the library. Secretary General Mr. Maroofi signed the Visitors Book: “This has been a great privilege to visit IRCICA, the cradle of Islamic civilization. I have the pleasure to congratulate H.E. the Director General of IRCICA Dr. Eren for the most commendable historic achievement in the service of the Islamic civilization. This great centre has been visited in the presence of the ECO permanent representatives on January 5, 2012.”
The ECO membership is composed of the Islamic State of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan Republic, Islamic Republic of Iran, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Turkey, Turkmenistan and Republic of Uzbekistan.
