The President of Turkey Dr. Abdullah Gül received Dr. Halit Eren at the Presidential Office in Çankaya, Ankara, on 24 September 2007. Dr. Eren offered his congratulations to Dr. Gül on his election to the post of President of Turkey.
On this occasion, Dr. Eren presented an outline of IRCICA?s current activities and the academic events it plans to organise in the near future. He explained that IRCICA?s conferences held in various countries within and outside the Muslim world help to increase international and inter-regional academic and cultural cooperation. He said that the Centre will pursue its objective of promoting research on Islamic civilisation and the history and cultures of Muslim countries in order to make these realities better understood. President Gül expressed his appreciation of the efforts made by the Centre which contribute in building better relations between countries and between different cultures. He assured the Director General of his support to IRCICA and his conviction that the Centre will continue to fulfil its mission in the most efficient way.
