IRCICA, the cultural subsidiary of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), established its Library and Archive Department as of 1980. The library functioned in historical premises within the Yıldız Palace complex during the period from 1980 to 2017; later, it was transferred to the buildings that were allocated to IRCICA by the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye within the Bâb-ı Âli complex in the historical district of Cağaloğlu.
IRCICA Library and Archive Department aims to render accessible to users from around the world its rich collections consisting of materials of various types and formats relating to history, geography, religion, science, philosophy, literature, art, and architecture under the main headings of Islamic culture and civilization; to promote research and studies in these fields; preserve and develop these collections and transfer them to coming generations.
IRCICA Library’s collection comprises printed books and journals, as well as rare books and manuscripts that are currently being digitized, and archival materials in various forms (handwritten/printed documents, audio-visual materials, maps, etc.).
