An extensive study of the numerous Islamic monuments in Albania. The author examined the historical context in which they were built, their architectural characteristics, and present state. The analysis is placed in the context of state administration, cultural and social life, and institutions during the Ottoman period. As such, the book is much more than an architectural study; it also reflects various aspects of Ottoman history in provinces, the social functions of the state, and societal structures.
