Prof. Arch. Amir Pašić was an urban planner, international expert in architectural conservation, and Head of IRCICA’s Architectural Heritage Section from 1993 to 2018. Pašić made founding contributions to IRCICA’s activities relating to urban studies and architectural heritage. He remained in touch with IRCICA after he left for his home country Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he continued to serve in his field until he passed away in 2022. A symposium was organized by IRCICA on the first anniversary of his death, bringing together international experts in urban development and architectural preservation from around the world, most of them his former colleagues and students. The symposium, held at IRCICA in hybrid format, focused on topics which Amir Pašić emphasized and promoted during his career. It was a most memorable event, with scholarly presentations on studies and projects conducted in different countries surrounded by remembrances of collaborations with him. The speakers also recalled Pašić’s activities under IRCICA’s programs, many of which were known and followed by the circles concerned at the times of their implementation. IRCICA Director General Prof. Mahmud Erol Kılıç outlines the projects led by Prof. Pašić at IRCICA and their continuations, in his Foreword to the book of proceedings.
