Among the four Standing Committees of the OIC each chaired by the Head of a Member State, the first established was the Al-Quds Committee, founded in 1975 under the Chairmanship of H.M. King Hassan II of Morocco. 15 other Member States take three-year (renewable) terms in the Committee by election. The booklet titled Al-Quds: A Historical Document (Bait Al Maqdis Press) was published by the Committee as a comprehensive and detailed source on the history of Al-Quds. The booklet was translated into different languages; its Turkish translation, by Acar Tanlak, expert at IRCICA, was published by IRCICA in 1988.
