A variety of specific topics relating to scholarly research on history, art and culture come under focus in this book through the lenses of leading specialists. This is the collection of the papers presented during the International Round Table conducted by IRCICA and the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan through its Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography, in Dushanbe, in September 2019. The round table was designed to encompass practical, methodological and other operational aspects of research with respect to multifarious topics involved in history, art and culture. The resulting specialized studies are grouped in the book under the area headings of: archeology, architecture, history of art, numismatics, studies on manuscripts and Arabic documents and epigraphy.
The authors, participants in the round-table, are experts from academies, universities, museums and cultural institutes. Nineteen articles, with rich illustrations consisting of photographs of monuments and artifacts and reproductions of documents, are collected in this book. The latter is expected to meet the interest of the scholarly community concerned, increase awareness and deepen the perception of researchers about the history, arts and culture of Tajikistan and its region.
