This book is the outcome of the international seminar on “Islamic History, Art and Culture in South Asia” organized by the Islamic University Islamabad and IRCICA on 26-28 March 1986 in Islamabad, Pakistan. It was opened under the patronage and in the presence of the President of Pakistan, the late Mohammad Zia ul Haq. The Secretary General of OIC, the late Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada was present. The working sessions heard 30 scholars and researchers from 9 countries. The papers were published jointly with the Institute of Islamic Culture, Lahore and the Academy of Letters, Islamabad.
