This work, which resulted from studies conducted at intervals over more than forty years, examines various aspects of Turkish culture in Egypt starting from the period of Mehmed Ali Pasha in the light of the works in Turkish which were printed in Egypt. It covers the period from 1803-1952. The first part contains an evaluation of the influences of Turkish culture and language in social life, in the circles of the Egyptian Palace, administration, army and education as well as a study of translations which were made from various languages into Turkish in Egypt. These evaluations are based on an examination of the printed works on Turkish culture in Egypt, the studies and dissertations devoted to this topic and particularly the published archival documents dating from the period of Mehmed Ali Pasha. The second part of the book deals with the famous Bulak Printing House, and others which published books in Turkish. The last part of the book consists of the “Bibliography of printed works on Turkish culture in Egypt”. The book includes numerous illustrations and comprehensive indices.
