The Mühimme Defter (Register of Important Matters) no. E-12321 located in the Topkapı Palace Archive, is the oldest known Ottoman Mühimme Register. It consists of 231 folios comprised of 557 firmans (imperial edicts) and hüküms (decrees) about various kinds of events and activities that took place in the Ottoman State during the years 951-952 Hijra corresponding to 1544-45 AD [The Rumi calendar was not used before 1678]. This book by the eminent historian of Ottoman economy Prof. Halil Sahillioğlu, published by IRCICA, contains a study and images of the text, its Latin transcription, indexes of persons, place names, and subjects.
