This volume contains seven articles by Professor Halil Sahillioğlu, a well-known authority on Ottoman economic and social history whose death in 2012 was a great loss for the related fields of research. The articles, previously published in various books and journals, were revised by the author for this publication. Most of them focus on periodically recurring phenomena closely related to the structure of the Ottoman economy and history of society, such as problems of money and circulation, techniques of coinage, revenues and expenditures of the treasury, and various other themes.
